Budge Budge Police Station falls under South 24 Parganas District situated on the southern side of River Hooghly with an area of 49.61 sq km. Budge Budge Police Station was established in the year 1908 during the British Period. The PS is under the supervision of Dy.SP(Industrial). There are 5 gram panchayats, two municipalities and one development block i.e Budge Budge I. The PS is surrounded by Maheshtala PS, Bishnupur PS & Nodakhali PS. The total population of PS is 1,12,947 (Male- 57,866 & Female – 55,081). Of the total population 54% are Hindus, 44% are Muslims and 2% are Christians. Budge Budge town being on the River side became a vibrant port town and due to its geographical position, trade flourished in the area. Indian petroleum companies established their bases here. Merchant ships from all over the World anchored in this riverine port, thus making it a very busy port and gave Budge Budge an important place in the industrial map of Bengal. The availability of water and port facility prompted many Jute Mills to be established on the banks of river Hooghly. Budge Budge is manily an industrial area. Generating power Station (C.E.S.C) has been set up at Pujali, supplying electricity to Kolkata and its suburban area. Indian Oil Corporation also has a Gas bottling plant for distribution in Kolkata metropolitan area. The Chinese Temple at Chinamantala, Achipur is a favourite destination for tourists. The residents of the PS jurisdiction are mainly industrial labourers. Apart from seasonal labour issues in Jute mills, the area is peaceful and has a police friendly population.
